A trip to Nepal puts a different perspective on the things that we take for granted. The light that always comes on when you flick that switch, the drinkable water that runs from the tap within your house, constant hot running water, a flushing toilet in the house, let alone more than one of them. Most of us don’t think twice or pause to appreciate what we consider to be basic services. Why would we; we have never known living without these things.
Yet in many parts of the world these are all still luxuries. Closer to home, there are remote communities in Australia, the homeless and others still living at significant disadvantage within our very sophisticated developed country that also struggle for access to these basic services.
The Importance of Reflection in Personal Growth
Take a moment next time you have a shower or run hot water to wash your hands just how lucky we are to be born into the life we have.
To live in West Australia, breathing beautiful clean unpolluted air, with access to pristine oceans, rivers and bush. Benefiting each and every day from the luxury of space, sophisticated civil infrastructure, cleanliness and lack of congestion. Think again if you think Perth traffic is something to complain about.
And finally appreciating how privileged I am to be able to travel overseas to benefit from the experience.
